Pick Cider for Thanksgiving!

This November, we’re challenging you to pick cider for Thanksgiving.

Cider has apple and fruity flavors that pair so nicely with roast turkey and rich Thanksgiving side dishes. Plus, the crisp acidity of cider refreshes and renews one’s palate through every sip.

With half the alcohol of most wines, cider may be a wise choice for a long day of drinking and eating. Are you sourcing a local pasture-raised turkey? Cooking up sweet potatoes and cauliflower from the farmers’ market? Why not pair a delicious locally grown, locally made beverage to pour alongside those.

It doesn’t seem likely that the Pilgrims were sipping on Burgundy; I bet they had hard cider at that first Thanksgiving. Local craft cider offers flavor, acidity and a lower abv that really fits the occasion perfectly.

Our team at James Creek can also help you choose the right cider to serve, whether you prefer something dry and tannic, or you’re seeking a sweeter, fruit-forward option. Come by the tasting room or visit us at the farmers’ market to try our Thanksgiving choices, so you can “Pick Cider” in style.

Our Thanksgiving recommendations feature a range of styles from dry to sweet with something for every palate:

Mighty Hunter – semi-dry, versatile with balanced acidity

Tally Ho – bone-dry and earthy with aromas of figs and pecans

Etude No. 6 – Blacktwig SV- semi-dry with notes of spice and tropical fruit

Crossbow – muscadine cider, tart & fruity, (think cranberry sauce!)

As you taste, you’ll learn how each of these ciders (and more!) can elevate your Thanksgiving gathering and surprise even the most traditional wine lovers. While wine may be the go-to at many tables, cider offers a fresh twist that captures the essence of the season in every sip. We are always happy to help with tastings, pairing suggestions, and recommendations for the holidays or anytime

Second Annual Holiday Market at James Creek!

Come sip and shop in the cider garden from more than 25 talented vendors offering distinctive, locally-made, hand-crafted goods. Last year’s event had such amazing items and a great turnout, so we’re really looking forward to version 2.0!

We are lucky, once again, that Santa and Mrs. Claus plan to stop by the Holiday Market. Santa loves to stock up on Wassail, our winter spiced cider, to last through those long summer days at the North Pole…..and to fill the stockings of good grown boys and girls.

Friday and Saturday are also Open House days at the Cameron Antique shops for shoppers who want to start the afternoon there and wind up here to recharge and shop some more. We’re hosting a terrific barbecue food truck and a special dessert food truck – Curlee-Q’s Doughnuts. Come join the fun!

If you’re a local artisan or know someone who may be interested in setting up a booth,
